About The Position

Shape the Future of Mobility at Nissan: Launch Your Career, Drive Innovation We’re currently looking for a Cost Engineering Manager to join our team. Manage a highly competent team of Cost Engineers and lead all projects to completion according to the requests of senior management. Lead all cost optimization activities for minor and major model programs including the budget setting process for minor and full model programs. Coordinate the part level costing and analysis of competitor vehicle teardowns for benchmarking purposes and best in class design cost optimization.

Requirements

  • Able to quickly analyze, compare and interpret detailed and sometimes poorly defined information and make sound and accurate conclusions.
  • Ability to defend his/her conclusions with detailed evidence and convincing negotiation.
  • Prior cost estimation experience in all the primary vehicle systems such as: body, interior, exterior, and sheet metal. Consideration will be made for similar experiences while working in Purchasing or Engineering.
  • 5+ years direct experience, which should include a minimum of 2 years in a management role coordinating the work of other employees or contractors including training, assigning work, checking the timeliness and quality of work and performance appraisals.
  • BS degree required; Engineering or Finance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide absolute and fluctuation piece cost and tooling estimates for automotive components
  • Support Engineering’s understanding of cost when developing Design Concept Sheets
  • Support Purchasing in analyzing supplier quotes and assist in the negotiation process.
  • Support the PDT process to ensure design cost optimization
  • Supplier visits for benchmark purposes and quote justification.
  • Support all cost reduction exercises including competitor vehicle teardown activities
  • Participate in ASIP (Alliance Supplier Improvement Process) activities and line walks at Nissan plants
  • Lead and/or Coach Staff with respect to continuous improvement projects using V-Op tools & processes
