About The Position

About the Role MyEyeDr is looking for an experienced manager of Corporate Accounting to lead core accounting operations in a high-volume, multi-location retail organization. This role oversees general ledger reporting in accordance with US GAAP, manages the month‑end close process, reviews journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, administers Oracle Cloud and Blackline, and prepares key schedules and selections for external audits. The Manager develops and coaches accounting team members, drives process and system improvements, and partners cross‑functionally to support operational and financial objectives Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Accounting & Indirect Tax, this is a hybrid position with a minimum of two onsite days per week at our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Accounting required; MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required, with 3+ years of Big 4 public and progressive accounting leadership/manager experience.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with the ability to apply accounting guidance to operational scenarios and complex transactions.
  • Highly organized and results‑driven, with the ability to prioritize deliverables, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of identifying trends, exceptions, and process inefficiencies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and translate financial information for non‑financial audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline, automate, and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and support operational growth.
  • Proficient in ERP and accounting technologies, including Oracle Cloud and Blackline, with the ability to administer systems, troubleshoot issues, and support integrations.
  • Strong business ethics and discretion in handling confidential information.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA Preferred
  • Retail or optical industry experience preferred (2+ years).
  • Oracle Cloud experience strongly preferred; experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP) acceptable.
  • Blackline experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial results in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
  • Partner closely with FP&A to support variance analysis and business insights.
  • Serve as system administrator for Oracle Cloud and Blackline, including managing G/L structures, validating coding combinations, resolving posting issues, ensuring reconciliation compliance, and training system users.
  • Optimize Oracle and Blackline functionality and support system enhancements, integrations, and scalability initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to streamline operations and shorten the close cycle.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of three, managing workload, performance, training, and goal alignment to support organizational gro Oversee financial statement audit support, including preparation of PBC requests, testing selections, and follow‑up responses.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners and operational leaders to support organizational priorities.
  • Design, implement, and monitor effective internal controls, including identifying and remediating control gaps to advance toward a SOX‑compliant environment.
  • Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance on accounting policies to operational teams when needed.
  • Manage special projects and analytical initiatives as assigned.
