This is a full-time, on-site opportunity located at our Sunnyvale Business Unit Headquarters . Other NG locations that may be considered are San Diego and Baltimore; however, staff assigned to the Baltimore site will be expected to work West Coast business hours. If you are not based in Sunnyvale, you will be expected to travel to the Sunnyvale site once each month. This position offers the 9/80 work schedule. What You'll Get to Do : The Manager 3 - Contracts Administration will support the Maritime/Land Sensors and Systems (MLSS) Division as an Operating Unit (OU) Contracts Manager for the Columbia-class Integrated Power Systems OU. This is a strategically critical OU with a long-term, stable backlog, and an average of ~$200M annual sales with a focused objective of delivering critical power generation and propulsion technology to the United States Navy, in support of high-visibility national security missions. The Contracts Manager 3 will report to the Marine Systems Business Unit Director of Contracts, Pricing, and Government Property and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the OU Program Managers/Directors, Business Managers, Operations Managers, Engineering Managers, and functional teams throughout the OU. Prior experience presenting to and negotiating with all levels of management is required. In this role, Contracts Manager 3 will be responsible for all aspects of the OU contracts' portfolio delivering successful financial performance, risk mitigation, change management, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for the direct supervision, management, and success of a team of 4 - 6 contracts professionals. Specifically, the Contracts Manager 3 will lead their team in conducting proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, business strategy, legal requirements, and customer specifications. The Contracts Manager 3 will also be required to provide objective-oriented direction utilizing management guidelines, general policies, and maintain a strong level of engagement, while dynamically leading, inspiring, motivating and developing a team of contract professionals. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; and will demonstrate broad spectrum of skills - from attention to detail, to assessing macro-level impacts. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience using proactive and forward-looking approaches to solve complex problems by seeking information from a variety of sources. They will have experience planning and executing successful contract negotiations and achieving targeted profit rates as well as favorable terms and conditions to assist in meeting profit and cash goals. The Contracts Manager 3 will lead a team and will need experience with succession planning, professional development, and performance management to maintain a healthy talent pipeline. The manager will also have demonstrated experience successfully recruiting, training, and retaining employees at all skill levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of industry related experience in contract administration/management - OR - a Master's degree with 6 years of industry related experience as outlined above.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a formal people leadership role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience planning and executing successful government contract negotiations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pricing principles and FAR/DFARS as well as associated Federal Contracting regulations.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.
  • US Citizenship is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
  • JD or MBA
  • Familiarity with SAP based systems.
  • NCMA Certification (CPCM, CFCM and/or CCCM)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
