Government and Community Affairs is seeking an experienced Manager, Community and Municipal Affairs who will focus on telling the story of the college and our students, faculty, alumni, and supporters. The ideal Manager, Community and Municipal Affairs candidate is to tell the story of the college and our students, faculty, alumni, and supporters. The marketing and PR manager will develop strategies to drive increased interest from our external audiences and continued engagement with our internal audiences. As head of the college's creative team, the marketing and PR manager will be responsible for the development and dissemination of feature stories, news releases, campaign messaging, and other content that facilitates student and faculty recruitment, healthy enrollment, connections with community and industry partners, successful fundraising, and an elevated research profile.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business field and two years of supervisory or managerial experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

  • Proficiency with work productivity software or similar writing and presentation software

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for establishing and sustaining programs and initiatives that positively impact the community.
  • Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events that promote student success.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, key individuals, and other organizations.
  • Serve as a liaison between neighboring businesses, institutions, and communities.
  • Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members.
  • Act as the lead representative for GSU, conveying its vision to the local community.
  • Draft and distribute communications promote GSU's connection to the community.
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties and recruit knowledgeable spokespeople or information sources for assistance when needed.
  • Manage social media content and virtual groups to enhance the department's online presence and profile.
  • Build and promote cross-functional relationships within GSU.
  • Serve as a mentor to the GSU internship program and assist with their professional development to ensure alignment with our strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned
