About The Position

The Manager of Commercial Plan Relations will lead engagement with private health insurers to advance payment and coverage policies that support obstetric and gynecologic care. This role will focus on building strategic relationships with commercial payers (e.g., UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield), advocating for adoption of ACOG clinical and coding standards, and improving member experience through enhanced coverage and reimbursement. The Manager will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with ACOG’s mission and health policy priorities. Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent organizational and analytic skills, as well as attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects, exercise sound professional judgment, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software and Internet research skills are required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of levels of professional staff and physician volunteers is essential.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s a plus.
5+ years in health policy, payer relations, or related experience
Experience of commercial insurance markets and payment systems is essential.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary liaison to commercial health plans, including national and regional insurers.
Develop and implement strategies to influence payer policies on coverage, payment, and quality measures for ob-gyn services.
Recommend policy and advocacy strategy recommendations to supervisor, including the support of implementing such efforts to support ACOG’s policy agenda and alignment with ACOG clinical guidance.
As a subject matter expert, provide content for educational activities and resources related to health policy coverage for obstetrician-gynecologists and the patients they
Advocate for adoption of new CPT codes and ACOG policy standards across commercial plans.
Monitor and analyze commercial payer policies and trends impacting ob-gyn practice.
Prepare policy briefs, comment letters, and advocacy materials to support organizational positions.
Collaborate with AMA and other stakeholders on coding and payment initiatives.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with payer representatives, coalitions, and industry partners.
Represent ACOG at meetings, workgroups, and forums focused on commercial insurance and payment policy.
Provide guidance and resources to ACOG members on navigating commercial payer requirements.
Work closely with colleagues in Medicaid, Medicare, coding, and health informatics to ensure coordinated advocacy efforts.
