Manager - Central Sterile Processing

About The Position

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a Manager, Central Sterile Supply to lead a 24/7 Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This role is responsible for the centralized storage, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies and equipment. The Manager ensures compliance with aseptic standards, infection prevention requirements, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies while overseeing daily operations and staff performance.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in healthcare, surgical services, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8–10 years of Sterile Processing experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
Central Service Certification required (CBSPD or CRCST)
Strong knowledge of sterilization standards, tracking systems, and materials management
Ability to use computerized tracking systems (e.g., TDOC)
Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to push/pull supply carts and perform routine physical tasks

Responsibilities

Manage daily SPD operations, including cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, packaging, and distributing instruments and patient care equipment
Lead and supervise CSP staff: scheduling, hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action
Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies, procedures, goals, and budgets
Ensure compliance with infection control, quality assurance, and regulatory standards
Oversee quality assurance activities and departmental reporting
Maintain inventory control, perpetual inventory systems, and adequate supply levels
Evaluate new products, loaner equipment, and vendor services for quality and cost-effectiveness
Coordinate preventive maintenance, capital planning, and equipment replacement
Deliver and support in‑service education on aseptic technique and instrument care
Collaborate with Perioperative Services leadership and hospital committees
