About The Position

This position provides project management to the Engineering and Construction line of Business for capital projects (less than $100 million) that will have an impact on company operations and/or investment planning. Position ensures that project estimating, budgeting, planning, design, construction, and turnover to operations are safely completed within time, budget, and scope constraints with high quality to meet customer needs. #LG&EKU #INDLGE

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or an alternate combination of education and experience that results in equivalent job knowledge can be substituted.
  • 7+ years of Engineering and Construction experience, including three years of electric utility experience
  • An alternate combination of education and experience that results in equivalent job knowledge can be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Safety is of the highest priority within Project Engineering. This position leads the Project Engineering and LG&E and KU safety cultures and programs to ensure the health and well-being of all persons working on the projects.
  • Conducts performance reviews of direct reports and provides input into performance reviews of other project team members.
  • Establishes project teams which provide the most economic mix of qualified internal personnel, consultant, and contractor personnel.
  • Leads the efforts of a small to mid-sized project team comprised of team members from vendors, engineering firms, constructors, and various departments within LG&E and KU.
  • Achieves effective project coordination and harmonious inter-departmental relations for small to mid-sized capital projects through regular communication, project meetings, and reports.
  • Develops project work plans, manages project changes, and resolves project problems to ensure project schedule is maintained.
  • Ensures budget management and compliance through the use of cost-effective designs, regular monitoring of project activity, and careful review/management of project costs.
  • Supports the project development functions as required during the conceptual, permitting and approval process for small to mid-size capital projects.
  • Assists in the development of contracting strategy and negotiation.
  • Coordinates development of project cost estimates, cash flows, business cases, and schedule for the operating plan and budget.
  • Ensures timely and cost-effective purchase and use of high quality and reliable materials, services, and equipment from sources.
  • Leads and coordinates post-project review meetings and activities for project quality review and closure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
