About The Position

The Campus Space Manager actively drives strategic use of campus spaces, oversees project life cycles, and maintains thorough project documentation. This role involves working with the Director of Planning, Design & Construction to develop and implement long-term space planning strategies, managing all phases of space-related projects, and overseeing project budgets and schedules. This position manages the Space Support program, which includes furniture & signage procurement and office relocations, prioritizing smooth transitions to optimize resource utilization. With expertise in space planning, strong project management, and proficiency in coordinating moves while maintaining detailed project records, this position significantly shapes and enhances the functionality of Aims Community College's campus facilities. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Planning, Design, CAD, or another related field, plus three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. Of the required three (3) years of work experience, one (1) year must be supervisory and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Basic knowledge of project management, move management & space planning.
  • Some knowledge of project management, office, and design software.
  • A pre-employment post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Safety Certification for the following equipment (or ability to become certified within twelve (12) months of hire): Forklift.
  • REQUIRED DOCUMENT: Cover Letter Resume Forklift Certification or the ability to become certified within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance to the Director and departments as needed. This includes identifying and improving designs, building plans, and site designs, or developing alternatives that would provide operating and capital cost savings. Creates work orders specifying inter-department coordination & move management plans, including drawings, schedules, materials, and equipment specifications.
  • Works with the Director of PD&C, and department leadership throughout the college for space planning needs Collects and organizes space utilization data for all campuses and leased spaces Works with departments and divisions to determine space usage and reallocation Produces planning outcomes and requisite documents, working with architects, consultants, and/or others as needed to provide accurate space information/audits, and creating plans and sketches as needed.
  • Maintains proficiency with various furniture products, including catalogs, software, and vendors. Designs office layouts considering space, employee needs/cost, utilizing design software, providing cost estimates for management approval, and creating requisition and order information, work orders, and furniture installation diagrams. Follows up with customers for concerns or satisfaction.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and utilizing standard project management artifacts in alignment with PMI standards, such as Project Charters, Project Plans, Communication Plans, Stakeholder Registers, and more. Create, maintain, and update necessary space documents such as the space inventory and utilization files.
  • Supervises Campus Space Manager, Campus Space Coordinator(s), temp staff, and student employees, including assigning work, approving time, managing performance, and recommending for hiring/termination.
