About The Position

The Manager of Bus Routing provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s pupil transportation routing services. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, optimization, and execution of bus routing solutions that support school district partners in achieving safe, reliable, and cost effective transportation operations. You will lead a team of routing professionals, partners closely with district transportation leadership, and contributes to business development initiatives. This position plays a critical role in scaling high quality routing services, strengthening client relationships, and driving operational excellence. The Manager of Bus Routing is a leader whose work directly influences the effectiveness and scalability of the organization’s busing services. Success in this role advances district partnerships, strengthens operational performance, and supports equitable student access to education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation management, logistics, business administration, public administration, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent professional experience in pupil transportation may substitute.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive project management experience in school bus routing or pupil transportation operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams in complex operational environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with routing and transportation management software platforms.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to translate data into strategic operational decisions.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support client engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience advising or partnering with K 12 school districts or educational institutions.
  • Background in transportation consulting, operational optimization, or large scale routing management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations related to specialized student transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight of routing operations to ensure consistent delivery of high quality, compliant, and efficient transportation solutions.
  • Direct the development and implementation of routing strategies that improve operational performance, optimize resource utilization, and support district sustainability goals.
  • Establish enterprise routing standards, governance frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
  • Analyze performance data and key metrics to guide strategic decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to school district transportation leaders on routing strategy, operational planning, and system optimization.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain high performing routing analysts and professionals.
  • Build and lead a scalable routing organization aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Design and implement structured training programs that enhance technical capability, operational judgment, and leadership skills.
  • Foster a performance driven culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence.
  • Conduct performance management, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
  • Support business development and client acquisition efforts through executive level presentations, solution design, and proposal contributions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in routing operations during client consultations and strategic discussions.
  • Translate client requirements into operationally viable routing frameworks and implementation plans.
  • Strengthen long term client partnerships through proactive engagement and advisory support.
  • Lead onboarding and transition processes for new district partnerships.
  • Drive process optimization initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and service consistency.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced routing technologies and operational tools.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging best practices in pupil transportation.
  • Champion innovation that supports districts navigating workforce challenges and fiscal constraints.
