About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do: As the manager for the BMS Hardware Team, you will drive development of Archer’s high voltage battery management system (BMS) and charge control unit (CCU). Specifically, you will:

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in electrical system design for EV, aerospace, or similar high-reliability applications.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated people management experience.
  • Experience with high voltage battery systems and BMS electronics.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Strong technical communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Track record of developing engineering talent and building collaborative team culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for HV battery systems in both aerospace and automotive contexts.
  • Experience with new product development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, medical devices).
  • Experience with certification standards, DO-254, DO-160, AC 20-152A, ARP4754, or ISO 26262.
  • Passion for aviation and eVTOLs

Responsibilities

  • Build and mentor a team of electrical engineers developing the BMS and CCU hardware.
  • Guide architectural decisions and down-selection, to drive new hardware concepts to maturity.
  • Make critical technical decisions balancing performance, safety, schedule, and certification constraints.
  • Lead engineering design reviews and manage flight hardware releases.
  • Guide cross-functional teams through hardware analysis projects (eg. WCCA, FMEA, PSSA) in support of safe flight and certification.
  • Manage technical engagement with suppliers, partners, and certification authorities.
  • Support the Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams during NPI & production ramp.
  • Collaborate closely with program teams, to deliver high-quality hardware on schedule.
  • Coordinate with integration and test teams during deployment across integrated test labs and aircraft.
