About The Position

The Manager, Outpatient Behavioral Health – Hospital Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for Legacy’s Behavioral Health Programs. This role collaborates closely with operational and medical leaders, directors, and senior leadership to support behavioral health services within Legacy hospitals and specialty clinics. This position provides operational and programmatic leadership to the psychiatric consult team serving inpatient and emergency departments across all medical centers.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology or a related field required.
  • Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare setting required; preference for experience within a multi-unit health system.
  • Demonstrated expertise managing inpatient psychiatric consult-liaison services and emergency department telepsychiatry consultation in hospital operations; familiarity with inpatient workflows, multidisciplinary care coordination and the dynamics of acute care environments preferred.
  • Proven experience in healthcare business operations and administration, including collaboration with clinical providers and leadership of specialty teams in hospitals and clinics.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership and business development skills.
  • Proficiency in project management, planning and program implementation.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leadership, providers, and staff.
  • Strong advocacy and collaboration skills to support integrated behavioral and physical health care.
  • Commitment to trauma informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning, business development, and quality improvement initiatives for Behavioral Health services.
  • Provide operational oversight for system-wide behavioral health practices, including payer-related incentives and quality initiatives.
  • Ensure integration of behavioral health services to optimize efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  • Manage staffing needs, including hiring, training, and ongoing clinical and operational management of providers and staff.
  • Serve as liaison across Legacy Health, payers, and external partners to foster communication, collaboration, and program growth.
  • Build strong relationships with provider partners, community organizations, and professional groups to meet patient and organizational needs.
  • May provide occasional direct clinical care as a licensed behavioral health provider, delivering interventions for health behaviors, developmental concerns, mental health, and substance use disorders.
