About Your Role: The Manager of Associate Belonging & Engagement leads the planning and implementation of our two main associate engagement initiatives – Dollar Tree’s Kindness Crew and our Associate Resource Groups (ARG) across SSC, Field, and Distribution Center (DC) environments. Reporting to the Director of Belonging and Community Impact, this role shapes associate engagement through programming, events, communications, and outreach, working cross-functionally to deliver inclusive, inspiring, and turn-key initiatives that reflect the day-to-day realities of all associates. The Manager also helps translate belonging and impact into measurable business value by strengthening associate engagement and facilitating strategies that build connection and trust, enhance our community impact, and foster resilience for our business. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in associate engagement and volunteerism, belonging, employee resource groups (ERGs/ARGs), community engagement, or program management roles within large and complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and scaling employee engagement and belonging initiatives across various associate populations, including corporate/SSC, Field, DC, and diverse operational environments.
  • Strong skills in program and event management, able to plan, execute, and oversee multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing associate-facing communications and engagement materials.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a continuous-improvement mindset driven by data, feedback, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with internal partners to deliver simple, effective, scalable solutions.
  • Experience supporting or partnering on technology-enabled engagement platforms or tools (e.g., event management portals, collaboration tools, HR systems), with the ability to act as a business owner and user advocate.
  • Ability to build trust and influence without formal authority, especially with ARG leaders, Kindness Captains, and people leaders across SSC, Field, and DC locations.
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional non-standard hours to support Field, Distribution Center, and community engagement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Associate Belonging & ARG Programming Lead the annual planning, execution, and evaluation of Associate Resource Group (ARG) programming, events, and campaigns across the SSC, Field, and DCs. Partner with ARG leaders and executive sponsors to align programming with enterprise priorities and drive measurable engagement. Support the three-leader ARG model (SSC, Field, DC) to ensure alignment, shared goals, and effective coordination. Develop playbooks, calendars, and toolkits that enable consistent execution while allowing flexibility across environments. Support onboarding, capability building, and ongoing development for ARG leaders. Serve as a key point of contact to facilitate collaboration, communication, and execution of belonging and engagement initiatives.
  • Field & Distribution Center Belonging Activation Design and implement belonging initiatives integrated into Field and DC routines, operating rhythms, and communication channels. Partner with Field Operations, HR Business Partners, DC leadership, and SSC leaders to embed belonging into meetings, recognition, learning, and engagement moments. Serve as a resource and advisor to Field and DC leaders on ARG engagement and belonging activation. Adapt enterprise and SSC initiatives to ensure relevance and accessibility for Field and DC associates.
  • Community Engagement, Volunteerism & Kindness Crew Lead the implementation and expansion of the Kindness Crew program across SSC, Field, and DC locations. Collaborate with Kindness Captains and ARG leaders to plan and execute local community and volunteer activities. Provide training, resources, and ongoing support to Kindness Captains to increase participation and consistency. Manage the Kindness Grant Program and develop materials and training to support and grow its impact. Identify and collaborate with nonprofit partners to initiate community projects and manage grant programs. Help align local community efforts with enterprise goals while respecting local needs and capacity.
  • Integration with Talent Lifecycle Partner with HR, Talent Management, and Learning teams to align belonging and volunteerism initiatives with key lifecycle moments across SSC, Field, and DC associates. Support the integration of belonging and community engagement concepts into onboarding, leadership development, recognition programs, and associate resources. Help ensure belonging initiatives reinforce people strategies and leadership expectations across all associate environments.
  • Communications, Outreach & Engagement Develop and implement associate-facing communications that promote belonging and engagement initiatives, ARG events, volunteerism, and participation opportunities across SSC, Field, and DC audiences. Collaborate with Internal Communications to ensure messages are clear, inclusive, and accessible across corporate and frontline channels. Manage event logistics, promotion, and follow-up to increase participation and ongoing engagement. Create executive briefing books, presentations, and engagement materials to prepare senior leaders and executive sponsors for ARG programming, belonging and engagement initiatives, events, and key associate engagement moments. Capture and share associate stories, Kindness Crew and ARG successes, and local impact from SSC, Field, and DC communities on Blink and other channels to strengthen pride and connection.
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement Track participation, engagement, and qualitative feedback across Kindness Crew and ARG programming, belonging initiatives, and events. Help assess effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and refine programs and technology solutions to drive engagement and efficiency. Conduct ongoing research and stay current on culture-enabling trends, associate engagement insights, associate volunteerism and ARG best practices to inform program design and continuous improvement. Share insights from SSC, Field, and DC communities to inform enterprise strategy and continuous improvement.
