About The Position

The Assembly Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of assembly operations, managing the assembly team, and driving process improvements to optimize efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role provides technical leadership, collaborates with cross-functional teams, implements quality control measures, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position plays a critical role in achieving production targets, maintaining product quality, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on assembly processes.
  • Proven experience in assembly operations management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality control methodologies
  • Proficiency in process design, flowcharting, and documentation
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering design and product development, with a focus on assembly systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, such as material selection, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacturability
  • Familiarity with engineering software and tools, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and FEA analysis tools
  • Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) techniques and data analysis methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing assembly team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
  • Excellent analytical skills to analyze data, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills to oversee multiple assembly projects and ensure timely completion
  • Continuous learning mindset and willingness to stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to assembly operations

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the entire assembly process, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating assembly operations to meet production targets and customer demands
  • Leads, mentors, and develops the assembly team, including setting performance objectives, providing feedback and conducting evaluations to ensure productivity and job satisfaction
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure timely availability of components and cost-effective solutions
  • Continuously monitors production activities, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to optimize workflow and maximize efficiency
  • Develops and improves manufacturing processes for converter assembly operations, focusing on efficiency, quality, and productivity enhancements
  • Identifies and implements process improvements (ex. automation, lean methodologies) to optimize workflow, reduce costs, and eliminate waste, supported by data analysis
  • Oversees quality control and compliance, including developing testing protocols, safety inspections, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards (health, safety, environmental)
  • Establishes and maintains quality assurance procedures, including inspections, testing protocols, and adherence to specifications
  • Utilizes engineering knowledge to define quality requirements, design testing protocols, and develop inspection criteria
  • Collaborates with the quality control team to investigate and resolve any product quality issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary
  • Evaluates supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Stays updated on industry regulations and best practices, incorporating them into the assembly operations to maintain compliance
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to assembly operations, including production metrics, quality performance, and efficiency indicators
  • Generates comprehensive reports and provides insights to senior management regarding operational performance, areas for improvement, and strategic recommendations
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for assembly operations
  • Develops mechanical designs for simple to complex equipment, including prototypes, evaluation, testing, installation, and troubleshooting. Take a hands-on approach to problem-solving, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Employs 2D and 3D software, primarily SolidWorks, to generate design concepts, layouts, machine assemblies, and detailed component documentation. Utilizes AutoCAD knowledge to support design activities
  • Develops testing plans, operation manuals, and other relevant documentation to ensure comprehensive understanding and proper execution of assembly processes
  • Creates detailed technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and work instructions, to facilitate smooth and efficient assembly operations
  • Performs engineering design calculations, including stress analysis, tolerance analysis, and system performance evaluation
  • Participates in product design decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with customer requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Makes all mechanical component selections, considering material properties, compatibility, availability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Applies knowledge of manufacturing techniques to select components that optimize assembly efficiency and product performance
  • Ensures design for manufacturability by selecting components that align with production capabilities and cost targets
  • Coordinates testing programs to validate product performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive design optimizations
  • Releases products into production, ensuring seamless transition from prototyping to full-scale manufacturing
  • Provides technical support during the start-up of new product production, collaborating with the assembly team to address any challenges and ensure efficient assembly processes
  • Provides technical leadership to Drafters, guiding them in developing detailed drawings from layouts
  • Participates in design projects, including new product development, customized products, existing product maintenance, quality improvements, and cost reduction
