Job Description About the Department The Retail function provides Personal Financial Services (PFS) Banking customers with financial solutions tailored to their needs. We help them manage their money wisely and meet their financial goals through an extensive range of products and services. These include deposit, insurance, secured and unsecured loans, investment and wealth advisory services. Job Responsibilities The successful candidate will be part of the Group Retail Risk & Control, focusing on providing data science and analytics support to business segments within Group Retail. The Candidate will be working closely with Group Compliance and other risk units in meeting UOB’s objectives and use cases in managing its business risk. The role is based in Singapore and will report to the Head of AFC Analytics.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative programme, such as Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Actuarial Science, Financial Engineering, etc.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in the financial services industry or from management consulting background (advantageous)
  • Comfortable working with data, supported by strong analytics skills and modelling skills
  • Have prior experience with data visualization tool (e.g. Power BI, Qlik etc.) and data analytics tool (e.g. R, Python, SAS, SQL)
  • Analytical mind with sound business insight, excellent communicator (verbal and written), highly meticulous, and self-motivated

Nice To Haves

  • MBA / post graduate degree is an added advantage
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in the financial services industry or from management consulting background (advantageous)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with front-line teams, group and business compliance teams and integrated AFC operation teams to understand new risk typologies, business needs and translate them into problem statements, develop analytics solution and ensure smooth data-to-insights conversion to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage, build and deliver analytical solutions including dashboards and models to help businesses track various effectiveness and risk metrics:
  • Develop predictive or analytical models using advanced modelling methods to capture emerging business risk and act as model owner to implement the model and maintain model performance
  • Perform data mining on both structured and unstructured data to identify emerging new risk trends and typologies, which ultimately result in the delivery of the end-to-end analytical solutions from requirements gathering, POC, implementation and maintenance
  • Develop dashboard or visualization for tracking and monitoring of trends and model outputs
  • Own and manage UOB’s business intelligence tool / dashboard (ie, Qliksense)
  • Liaise with other modelling teams/external vendor where necessary during development of new models, to capture business requirements and use cases, test of model performance and managing model transition risk and impact to business
  • Lead projects to identify process inefficiencies in Bank’s operations and implement automation solution to streamline manual processes and minimize errors
  • Support any data management / engineering activities related to Bank’s AML database– e.g. involved in exercise to identify, ingest and prepare data from Bank’s database(s) to playpen/cubes, and ultimately for consumption to product analytical solutions
