About The Position

The Manager- Actuarial Services guides the day to day operations for a team of actuaries and analysts in the assigned area of responsibility. The Manager- Actuarial Services ensures alignment between staff and leadership within the unit. This role is accountable for preparing rate filings, annual bid filings, monthly reserving, capitation, budgeting and forecasting. This role provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for the health plan's actuarial and analytic functions, ensuring data-driven decision-making and long-term financial stability. Manages critical processes—including pricing, reserving, budgeting, and annual bids—while establishing robust policies to maintain audit compliance and financial accuracy. By recruiting, mentoring, and managing a skilled team of actuaries and analysts, the position optimizes internal resources and coordinates external consulting as needed to meet organizational goals. Ultimately, the role ensures the integrity of financial statements and the achievement of the health plans' profitability targets through proactive risk management and continuous competency development. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field required.
  • Five years of progressive actuarial experience and two years of leadership experience required.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) certification awarded by the Society of Actuaries and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) required.
