About The Position

Major Responsibilities: Manages the month-end close process for areas of responsibility, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliation's, and supporting schedules, to ensure all financial transactions and related statistical data are recorded accurately and timely to the general ledger and related subsystems in adherence to the established monthly financial close schedule. Reviews and approves financial statements and reports in accordance with AAH’s accounting policies and GAAP in collaboration with the Financial Reporting team to ensure the timely and accurate issuance of financial statements and management reports in order to meet all internal/external reporting requirements. Manages the identification, research, development and implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements due to changes in AAH’s accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, process improvements and/or as required by new regulations or new accounting guidance. Provides GAAP accounting guidance and support to the technical accounting and financial reporting team, tax team and others. Ensures ongoing compliance with AAH’s internal control program. Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal controls over areas of responsibility and ensuring internal controls are re-evaluated as the business environment changes or as a result of process, system, and/or policy enhancements. Manages departmental continuous process improvement by identifying inefficiencies in work flow and implementation of new improved processes and procedures, by overseeing and participating in the training of team members or others as needed within accounting and finance function. Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale. Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives. Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) issued by a State Board of Accountancy.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in accounting. Includes 3 years of management experience in accounting.
  • Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and government rules and regulations.
  • Proficient knowledge of general ledger and related financial and revenue cycle business intelligence systems (e.g. Workday and Epic).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate/collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, management, executives, providers, physicians and external organizations.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of health care financial statements, financial analytics and account analysis.
  • Ability to understand and analyze the underlying business and its implications on financial accounting and reporting.
  • Ability in managing and leading teams through all phases of complex accounting projects.
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results
