About The Position

Manages the accounting function across the system with oversight of accounting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, accounting systems and financial records maintenance. Responsibilities also include leading and growing staff, developing departmental budget, and driving process improvement

Requirements

  • 7 years or more of experience in corporate accounting or finance
  • 4 years or more of experience in supervisory position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Able to analyze and present data to support management review and discussion
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with internal customers, management, and vendors
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Capable of working independently and supervising others
  • Proven ability to prioritize/delegate tasks and managing multiple assignments/deadlines
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience in public accounting
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
  • Workday system experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversees reliability and integrity of accounting records and financial reports as well as month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Analyzes and reports monthly and annual financial performance to department management, senior leadership, and board.
  • Serves as finance connection to support financial operational managers.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements opportunities to improve departmental policies and processes.
  • Advises staff about changes to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Trains, mentors, and evaluates staff to enhance development and professional skills.
  • Addresses staff issues and recommends opportunities to improve performance.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  • Works with Financial Systems Support to implement and maintain accounting support systems including related processes and data integrity.
  • Administers and interprets accounting policies and regulatory guidance.
  • Assists with special projects such as debt offerings, facilities expansion, and other special transactions.
