About The Position

MTC is proud to operate the Inland Empire Job Corps Center in San Bernardino, CA where our staff provide quality services to our local youth. This position directly supervises the ACT/OTP coordinator, academic instructors and substitutes, and driver’s education instructors. The role is responsible for the management of academic programs in compliance with government and management directives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience, one of which should be supervisory
  • Experience working with youth
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and manage the administrative and programmatic activities of the academic department.
  • Monitor and manage all instructors within the academic department to ensure full compliance regarding teaching strategies and classroom management.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with staff members to review center goals, outcomes, expectations as well as new center initiatives.
  • Ensure all property is accounted for in all classroom areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of the departmental budget, monitor and control expenditures. Review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.
  • Ensure classroom observations are completed on a quarterly basis using the MTC classroom observation form.
  • Ensure proper data integrity of all academic testing processes.
  • Ensure the use of testing of adult basic education (TABE) diagnostics for student placement in reading and math classes.
  • Ensure that appropriate and timely student schedule changes are submitted for accountability and compliance with maximum benefits scheduling. Monitor and assist with the student accountability system as it relates to Academic standards and training.
  • Ensure all staff members receive the necessary training for their position to include teaching strategies, classroom methodology, and interactive teaching.
  • Function as the co-disability coordinator for the center.
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
