About The Position

Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. This position is located in Carson City within the Design Services Section of the Design Division.

Responsibilities

• Manage the planning, assigning and supervision of the Scoping Section and the Estimating and Scheduling Section.
• Develop policies and procedures for each section.
• Manage the development of engineering conceptual designs, alternatives, preliminary estimates, and preliminary engineering project schedules.
• Manage the Department's Five-year Plan.
• Manage the performance measures assigned to the Design Division.
• Interact and communicate with others throughout the Department and local agencies.
• Direct, manage and train subordinate professional staff.
• Evaluate performance and recommend and initiate disciplinary action when necessary and appropriate.
• Organize, coordinate and delegate projects and assignments.
• Assist in budget development for the Design Services Section.
