About The Position

Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. This position is located in Carson City within the Design Services Section of the Design Division. The incumbent will manage the planning, assigning and supervisions of the Scoping Section and the Estimating and Scheduling Section; develop policies and procedures for each section; manage the development of engineering conceptual designs, alternatives, preliminary estimates, and preliminary engineering project schedules; manage the Department's Five-year Plan; manage the performance measures assigned to the Design Division; interact and communicate with others throughout the Department and local agencies; direct, manage and train subordinate professional staff, evaluate performance, recommend and initiate disciplinary action when necessary and appropriate; organize, coordinate and delegate projects and assignments; and assist in budget development for the Design Services Section.
