About The Position

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Management Systems Specialist supporting the Illinois Lead Program. Performs highly responsible administrative staff functions for the Program. Provides technical guidance, support in implementation, data analysis and maintenance of the blood lead data system.

Requirements

  • Requires a master’s degree in business or public administration or a closely related field, and preferably including coursework in systems analysis, accounting, computer science, and statistics; requires two (2) years of professional experience in public or business administration.
  • ORRequires a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or a closely related field, and preferably including coursework in systems analysis, computer science, and statistics; requires four (4) years of experience directly related to the development, maintenance and coordination of a computer-based management information system.

Responsibilities

  • Under general direction as part of a computer-based management information system, provides assistance with all aspects of infrastructure, interoperability, and operation of the blood lead data system.
  • Serves as “front end” application specialist providing support, data analysis and recommendations to local health department users for daily implementation, documentation and reporting within the system to meet state and federal requirements for lead poisoning case management, investigation, and provision of surveillance data.
  • Liaisons with laboratories and testing providers in transitioning from paper reporting to electronic submission of blood lead data into the surveillance system.
  • Assists in the planning, developing, and administrating training related to procedural requirements and routine tasks associated with the blood lead poisoning surveillance system.
  • Travels to perform maintenance, routine tasks, and decommission/replacement planning for legacy management information systems.
  • Attends continuing education and professional development training.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
