About The Position

The ASU Knowledge Enterprise is seeking a detail-oriented and communicative individual to join its Research Operations department at Arizona State University (ASU). As a Management Intern for Research Operations, you will assist Sponsored Projects with administrative support on proposals for project funding.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management.
  • Experience in using personal computer and related software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and follow grant application requirements (or similarly extensive or complex written instructions) and communicate relevant aspects concisely.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an administrative resource to ASU faculty and staff during development, review, and submission of grant applications and other proposals for project funding.
  • Consult with Sponsored Proposals colleagues to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance and answer questions about the Pre-Award process.
  • Develop administrative components of research proposals and institutional grant applications for a wide variety of funding agencies, including federal sponsors, corporate entities, philanthropic funders, and local governmental agencies.
  • Develop project budgets, draft budget narratives, secure internal approvals, liaise with sub-recipients, check proposal documents for completeness, prepare sponsor application packages, and perform institutional review and submission.
  • Identify specific areas and solutions for process improvement and perform project management to draft and implement changes to methods, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
