The largest of Duke Health's four hospitals with 1062 patient beds, it features comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center, an endo-surgery center, and more.  General Description of the Job Class Support the following performance management and improvement services for the Duke Health System Quality office supporting Duke University Hospital, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital, and other entities within the Duke University Health System.   This position will focus on advanced analytics, data engineering, and performance improvement to enhance clinical operations and patient safety outcomes—particularly within the Neurosciences/Spine service line.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related field. Master's degree desired.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience. Experience can be supplemented with a Master's degree with a Master's being equivalent to two years of experience. Or, with 2 years of Duke ME I experience
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with data engineering or SQL.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and work collaboratively with clinical and operational stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, validation, and maintenance of standardized analytics supporting Neurosciences and Spine KPIs (e.g., length of stay, throughput, readmissions, quality).
  • Design and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor performance trends and outcomes.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for clinical and operational leaders.
  • Provide technical project management support for operational and strategic initiatives within Neurosciences.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among physicians, nursing, operations, analytics, and leadership.
  • Develop project plans and outcome measures aligned with health system goals.
  • Serve as a technical and analytical lead for multidisciplinary performance improvement initiatives.
  • Apply performance improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA) to identify inefficiencies and drive sustainable change.
  • Monitor the impact of interventions and recommend course corrections based on data trends.
  • Align Neurosciences' performance initiatives with broader health system goals and hospital KPIs.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Neurosciences leadership and system analytics and improvement resources.
