Requirements

  • The ideal candidate is more than technically strong – they are a proactive problem-solver and strategic thinker.
  • Experience in budget development, financial analysis and municipal or public-sector finance (preferred).
  • Strong (and proven) analytical skills with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, shifting deadlines and changing requests with professionalism and composure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • A drive for continuous improvement (both personally and professionally) and the curiosity to learn, adapt and refine processes.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
  • Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
  • Requires proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Workday and other applications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate budget development and monitoring activities for all divisions in the Neighborhood and Human Services Department, to include Community Services, Code Compliance, Transit, Community Engagement, Community Assistance and Youth Services.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to develop long-term projections, performance metrics and funding strategies.
  • Partner closely with department leadership to evaluate complex requests, identify viable solutions, facilitate the annual fiscal year budgeting process and recommend successful strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Business Services team and divisional staff to continuously improve financial processes and reporting tools.
  • Deliver responsive, first-class internal customer service by clearly communicating financial information and delivering high-quality outcomes and projects.
