The Mammography/X-Ray Technologist prepares patients for imaging in the X-Ray Department. This role involves performing radiographic procedures as prescribed by a physician, operating DR equipment, and determining proper technique through the selection of voltage, current, and exposure time. The technologist is responsible for positioning patients for the proper view of the affected area and instructing them on the physiological requirements for the procedure. Acquiring patient medical history, complying with infection control procedures, and preventing unnecessary radiation exposure for both themselves and the patient are also key aspects. The position requires compassionate and accurate communication with patients to explain their experience, effective use of system applications for patient workflow, and general housekeeping duties such as laundry and stocking supplies. Attendance at meetings and training sessions may be required, occasionally outside of regular working hours, to accommodate business needs and professional development.
