About The Position

Sam’s Lab Makerspace is seeking a creative, tech-savvy, and community-focused professional to support Addison’s diverse population through hands-on learning and innovation. This role provides direct assistance to patrons using makerspace tools and equipment, leads engaging workshops, and offers one-on-one training to help users complete DIY and creative projects in a safe and welcoming environment. We are looking for: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) A team member who helps ensure the Library remains a Safe, Respectful, and Responsible space by enforcing our Patron Behavior Guide with professionalism and empathy Experience leading workshops, classes, or programs, especially in maker, technology, or creative environments Comfort assisting patrons with makerspace equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, vinyl cutters, and related tools Ability to create, adapt, and deliver Spanish-language programs and translate instructional materials to support program access to the community we serve Familiarity with or willingness to learn design software (e.g., Cricut Design Space, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or open-source alternatives) Strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse public Resourceful problem-solver with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and software Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Availability to work evenings and weekends is required as part of the regular schedule Someone who enjoys walking, standing, bending, stretching, and lifting at work

Requirements

  • Bachelors required, Masters preferred
  • Two years of related experience, including maker and technology experience
  • Previous experience leading and creating programs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Fluent in speaking, reading and writing in Spanish required
  • Access to transportation required
