About The Position

DoveLewis is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to join our development and fundraising team! As a Major Gifts Officer you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts of $25,000 and above to support organizational priorities, including programs, endowments, capital initiatives, and equipment. This role works closely with grateful clients, philanthropists, and professional advisors to develop meaningful giving opportunities aligned with DoveLewis's mission. The Major Gifts Officer partners with program and medical staff to ensure fundraising efforts support strategic priorities. A successful candidate will have experience engaging high net worth individuals in charitable giving conversations, including comfort discussing estate and deferred gifts. A genuine respect for animals and an appreciation for the human-animal bond are essential. This is a hybrid position split between work from home and our NW Portland hospital location. Salary range is $70,000-90,000 annually depending on education, certification, and experience.

Requirements

  • A successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual donors.
  • Demonstrated ability to close six figure gifts
  • Three or more years of successful major gifts experience.
  • Ability to and comfort with engaging with high-net-worth individuals, senior leadership, and allied professionals (attorneys, CPAs, wealth managers).
  • Experience using donor database software (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred)
  • Demonstrated success meeting and exceeding fundraising goals
  • Experience creating donor proposals and managing multiple projects
  • Understanding of a variety of giving vehicles and assets utilized in major and estate gifts
  • Any suitable combination of experience or education may substitute for the above.
