About The Position

Avantor is seeking a dedicated and high-energy Major Account Manager who will play a crucial role in enhancing customer interactions and developing beneficial solutions tailored to their business needs. This full-time position is based onsite in South San Francisco, CA, where the successful candidate will consultatively sell Avantor's extensive portfolio of products and services to a diverse range of current and prospective clients. The emphasis is on providing higher and differentiating value not just through the products sold, but through the approach taken in selling them. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for science and exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling them to effectively manage various buyer types and personalities. In this role, the Major Account Manager will be responsible for maintaining relationships with accounts by visiting customer sites within the assigned territory. This includes selling products and services, acting as the primary point of contact post-sale, and focusing on ongoing customer satisfaction, retention, and business growth. The position requires strategic agility in approaching customers and projects, ensuring that solutions are tailored to meet individual customer needs. The Major Account Manager will also drive new and existing opportunities by effectively managing their territory to maximize customer visits and sales potential. The role involves utilizing both local and global internal resources, as well as external contacts, to achieve sales targets. Planning and forecasting are critical components, as the Major Account Manager will need to set objectives and Key Performance Indicators for their territory/accounts, employing pre-call planning to enhance effectiveness. The ability to develop mutually beneficial relationships and engage in strategic conversations with customers is essential, as is the capacity to manage customer interactions professionally, demonstrating excellent listening and organizational skills. Additionally, the Major Account Manager will need to synthesize and integrate sales data to support management decisions and negotiate large account pricing strategies and contracts effectively.
