The Quoin is a luxury boutique hotel located in a beautifully restored 1885 brownstone in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware. Designed with rich textures, vintage furnishings, and a warm, residential feel, The Quoin blends historic character with modern sophistication. Guests can enjoy thoughtfully crafted rooms and suites, wood‑fired Northern Italian dining, a rooftop bar with sweeping city views, and a cocktail lounge set inside the building’s original bank vault. The Quoin is seeking a poised, hospitality‑driven Maître D’ to lead the guest experience from the moment they walk through the door. This role is ideal for someone who brings confidence, warmth, and impeccable attention to detail to an elevated dining environment. As the face of the host team, you’ll manage reservations, orchestrate the flow of service, and ensure every guest feels welcomed, cared for, and seamlessly guided through their evening.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in an upscale or high‑volume restaurant, preferably in a host, lead host, or maître d’ role.
  • Strong knowledge of hospitality standards and guest‑service best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and guest‑focused under pressure.
  • A polished, positive, and welcoming demeanor.
  • Strong problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Night and weekend availability required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a polished, upbeat, and professional presence.
  • Manage reservations, special requests, and guest notes with accuracy and care.
  • Coordinate seating flow to support both guest experience and service efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly with Servers, Food Runners, Management, and Chefs to maintain smooth service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually elevated host stand that reflects The Quoin’s design‑driven environment.
  • Uphold refined phone etiquette and reservation protocols.
  • Anticipate guest needs, celebrations, and accommodations with thoughtful planning.
  • Support a warm, team‑oriented culture on the floor.
  • Multi‑task effectively in a high‑volume, fast‑paced setting while maintaining composure and professionalism.
