About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Facilities Management, responsible for performing all phases of general building maintenance per calls received through the work request process. Incumbents are subject to overtime and callback as required by the hospital. 1. Inspects and performs repair and maintenance per call received in the area of air conditioning, ventilation, heating, controls and related systems and equipment. 2. Inspects and performs repair and maintenance per call; received in the area of basic electrical systems such as changing plugs, electrical receptacles, switches, bulbs, ballasts, beds and bed controls and low voltage systems. 3. Inspects and performs repair and maintenance per call received in the area of plumbing. Replacing/fixing faucets, unclogging drains, installing fixtures. 4. Reads and interprets construction blueprints, schematics and follows instructions for assembling and installing furniture, bulletin boards, etc. 5. Assembles and/or installs new equipment in place prior to hook-up by others. 6. Observes and adheres to safety regulations and practices. 7. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department. 8. Is in compliance with Holy Cross Hospital Attendance Standards. 9. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

Requirements

  • Skill and proficiency to read, write and perform mathematical calculations and measurements
  • As normally acquired through official completion of high school or its equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of building construction, renovation and repair and general knowledge of the Operation of miscellaneous electrical, HVAC/R systems, plumbing, etc. as normally acquired Through completion of technical high school courses and/or vocational school courses.
  • Have working knowledge of local, state and national regulations.
  • Maintains a valid driver's license and is compliant with PPD requirements.
