About The Position

The General Maintenance Worker will perform general property maintenance, renovations, and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, heating, and cooling, within the residential group homes. The Center for Family Support (CFS) mission is to provide support and assistance to individuals with developmental and related disabilities. Requirements

  • Physically capable of moving equipment (able to lift 50lbs or more)
  • Proven experience as handyman
  • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Basic math skills
  • Good communication ability
  • Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
  • Basic computer and digital literacy, including the ability to use email, mobile apps, and work‑order or reporting systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Driver License and able to be flexible and to travel to sites as needed
  • Ability to respond to urgent maintenance needs, including occasional afterhours or emergency situations as required
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of one (1) to (2) years or progressive responsibility and experience in maintenance, fleet and equipment, and/or facilities required; or equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, sweeping, mopping etc.
  • Fixing any safety hazards.
  • Installing and repairing furniture and other equipment
  • Installing appliances and equipment.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot appliances and equipment.
  • Installing and Repairs to broken locks.
  • Electrical - light bulbs, fixtures, outlets, and receptacles.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Painting – plaster, peeling paint, assist with empty room turnover ETC.
  • Carpentry – Doors, windows, framing, flooring and molding ETC.
  • Plumbing – Replacing toilet, sinks, vanities, and shower fixtures ETC.
  • Masonry – Grouting, Tiles, Cementing, mortar.
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
  • Liaising with contractors and other workers.
  • Perform safety site inspections.
  • Report to a facilities or maintenance Director for issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Accurately document completed work, inspections, and identified issues in required systems or reports
