About The Position
A Maintenance Worker position is available with The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation & Public Works Streets & Stormwater Operations Division. Stormwater Operations is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. The successful candidate selected for this position will work in the Vegetation Maintenance Program, Mowing Section and will be required to work outdoors, during inclement weather, around moving traffic and equipment, in and around water and in overgrown vegetation.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- No experience required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Stormwater maintenance and operations
- Experience and knowledge with hand/power tools
- Work Zone safety
Responsibilities
- Operating various hand & power tools (weed eaters, chainsaw, pole saw, shovels, rakes, picks)
- Perform a variety of maintenance activities and other responsibilities in and around drainage easement areas
- Perform construction and maintenance activities, such as weed eating, tree trimming and removal, concrete & inlet maintenance, other duties as needed
- Work in various weather conditions. Work in overgrown vegetation, poison ivy, wildlife, in and around water
- Traffic Control set up
- Emergency call back for priority calls and/or weather events
