About The Position

The Maintenance Worker position is responsible for performing skilled work in maintenance or craft occupations. This position is located at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy in Helena. Duties may include: Performing preventative maintenance and equipment such as replacing belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and changing tires and breaks Paint or repair broken windows, doors, floors, or damaged items Inspect, test and adjust systems such as pumps, alarms, gauges, heating and cooling and electrical components Fabricate or machine parts, tools and other equipment Maintain alter, and repair wooden objects, fixtures and structures Perform carpentry repairs and replacements on defective, broken or worn-out sections Light engine repair and welding Snow removal Basic cleaning of campus facilities Other general maintenance

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to attend Boiler Operator training within 12 months of employment
  • Pass the Boiler Operating Engineer certification test within 14 months of employment
  • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, using proper body mechanics and approved tools or devices.
