About The Position

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker II must be a self-starter and will be responsible for the following job duties: Metal working; welding (stainless steel), constructing sheet metal fabrications and machining with manual machines (mill, lathe, band saws, etc.). Service, maintain and repair commercial/industrial (HVAC) air handling equipment. Perform architectural work; renovations, painting, carpentry, building repairs and preventive maintenance to building structures. Service and repair commercial refrigeration equipment and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned. Will be required to respond in a timely fashion to a variety of alarms to include equipment monitoring systems, HVAC alarms, IT system alarms, and all other related types of notifications.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or a GED or equivalent and 3-5 years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from with comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
  • Must have demonstrated skills in general maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems.
  • This position requires the ability to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
  • A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Trades licenses/certifications; NM boiler operator (BO I/ II), EPA Universal certification, electrical, plumbing licenses, HVAC-R will be considered a plus for this position.
