About The Position

The Lake County Maintenance Department is seeking applications for a Temporary Maintenance Worker II. This role involves performing a variety of routine maintenance and general cleaning tasks, both indoors and outdoors. Key responsibilities include plumbing, basic carpentry, sheet rocking, finish work on office equipment, and electrical work with 110 current. The position also requires outdoor maintenance such as mowing, pruning, snow removal, and insect spraying, as well as indoor cleaning of restrooms and hallways. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the chemical room and Safety Data Sheets, operating various tools, and performing interoffice mail delivery as a backup. Applicants must be able to understand and execute oral and written directions and foster cooperative relationships with colleagues. A background check is a mandatory requirement for this temporary position, which is expected to last 3-6 months.

Requirements

  • Must possess 1 year of experience in maintenance and general cleaning
  • Familiar with methods, materials, and tools used in building cleaning work
  • Possess demonstrated experience in maintaining compliance of Safety Data Sheets
  • 1 year of experience in plumbing and restroom fixtures
  • 1 year of experience in basic carpentry, sheet rocking, and finish work on office equipment
  • 1 year of experience in electrical work with 110 current
  • Must be able to perform routine maintenance and cleaning work
  • Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers
  • MUST PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor and routine maintenance tasks, including moving file cabinets, furniture, and boxes, changing light bulbs, painting, and repairing small items
  • Clean up after projects are completed
  • Mow and spray lawns, prune shrubs, and clean leaves off of the roof
  • Shovel snow and clear ice and snow from sidewalks and entrances
  • Spray building for insects
  • Perform interoffice mail delivery and pickup (as backup)
  • Clean inside and outside of the building, including restrooms, and hallways
  • Maintain chemical room and Safety Data Sheets
  • Operate power and manual tools
  • Perform electrical work with 110 current
  • Perform basic carpentry, sheet rocking, and finish work on office equipment
  • Perform other duties as required
