About The Position

The University of Texas Permian Basin's Physical Plant welcomes applications for the position of Maintenance Worker II - Physical Plant The University's Physical Plant department is seeking a self-motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Building Maintenance Technician. This position mid-level position is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair activities to ensure the functionality, safety, and appearance of university facilities. The incumbent will primarily support the STEM Academy, however they may be expected to perform general repair and maintenance of other university facilities. Participation in a mandatory on-call rotation is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Three years experience in general maintenance
  • Possess organizational skills and able to communicate effectively
  • Possess a clean and valid Texas driver's license for at least three (3) years
  • Possesses dexterity, lifting capacity (up to 50lbs), and ability to walk up to 100% of the time in accordance with job demands
  • Ability to follow safety precautions. Job may entail moderate exposure to chemical, environmental, and various other hazards that require strict adherence to procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Five years experience in general maintenance
  • Combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English as well as perform basic mathematical computations

Responsibilities

  • Perform various maintenance duties in all crafts including but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Occasional HVAC filter changes
  • Replace light bulbs and ballasts
  • Occasional painting and drywall patching
  • Mandatory on call rotation. On Call rotation changes on a weekly basis.
  • Minor plumbing repairs
  • Other duty as assigned.
