About The Position

Work with maintenance team members with developing their On-The-Job skills. Work with maintenance management to track team member progress using the OJT Flexibility Matrix training and tracking system. This system will help manage the progress of each team member’s knowledge of the individual pieces of equipment in their bid related responsibilities. It takes their progress from new team member with minimal knowledge to a complete understanding of each piece of equipment from a safety, theoretical and physical standpoint and how to perform job safely. The master mechanic trainer will be a “Instructional” position that will perform departmental safety related functions to include additional safety audits, assist with preparing and completing safety work permits, etc. This position will also be responsible for helping to manage the content in each Flexibility Matrix to ensure the information is current with equipment changes, additions, removals, and TM qualification changes. Will be required to go through the “We Care” training and assist management in safety observations of team members performing tasks, tool inspections, PPE inspections, Job Safety Briefings’, Physical Hazzard Inspections’ and Life Saving Rules.’ This position can work in a cold, damp environment or hot, humid environment and on slippery surfaces. Hours: Monday – Friday – 3 PM – 11:30 PM Saturday – when plant production is working

Requirements

  • Team member must be able to bend, stretch, reach, walk/stand 8 to 12 hours a day, repeatedly push, pull, carry, lift up to 70 pounds, and be able to climb up/down stairs/ladders.
  • Must have the necessary communication skills/ability to understand received and provide task instructions, the ability to read and comprehend written and verbal machine instructions/work orders and to correctly complete all job-related paperwork.
  • A candidate for master mechanic trainer position will be required to complete advance training in a number of specialty areas including but not limited to safety, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, electronic, refrigeration, boilers, mechanical, plc’s and frequency drives, PC programs (Word, Excel).
  • Candidate must be able to become HAZMAT certified.
  • Must be a current maintenance team member with Tyson for 6 months.
  • Team member must show adequate progression in the Maintenance Training Program to achieve level 8 within 3 years of hire.
  • Candidates with 6 or more attendance points and/or any suspension discipline on file within the last 12 months at time of posting will not be considered.

  • This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.
