About The Position

ASRC Federal Facilities Logistics, LLC, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Maintenance Trades Helper to support our Prime NASA program at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Summary/General Description of Job: Performs semiskilled and unskilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair involved in assisting journey-level workers in a variety of crafts related to the maintenance and/or repair of facility equipment and structures. The Maintenance Trades Helper is closely supervised.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • General experience assisting one or more in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific duties of lesser skill.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding or ramps
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Mature judgment.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks involved in assisting a journey-level worker in the various trades and have an elementary knowledge of hand tools and mechanical processes.
  • Performs recurring tasks such as moving materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site
  • Work in more than one trade area, as assigned
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance
  • Completes records, maintains tools, and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities
  • Interacts with coworkers in an attentive courteous manner
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, NASA, GSFC, and OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Performs periodic stock inventories and request material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and/or other equipment.
  • Assists and supports other departments, staff and/or trade groups as needed or directed.
  • Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related work as required or assigned.
  • Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Adherence to all safety, environmental and health rules and regulations.
  • Working with the Supervisors and Operators to outline work to be done, after which incumbent is expected to work independently.
