About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is an experienced, full-time role based in Merrill, WI, within the manufacturing category. This position involves observing and troubleshooting mechanical devices, dismantling them to access and replace defective parts, and performing repairs and installations. The technician is responsible for completing preventive maintenance according to schedule and utilizing resources to identify necessary parts for repairs. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, self-direction, and adherence to safety policies and work order procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 years experience repairing and servicing a variety of machinery
  • Proven self-direction, must be able to work individually or in a team to complete equipment repairs
  • An effective listener
  • Excellent problem analysis and problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Effective in stressful situations and a high paced environment
  • Must follow all IFG Safety policies and procedures
  • Must understand and follow the IFG Work Order Procedure
  • Must have understanding and be able to work in Microsoft Word and Excel systems

Responsibilities

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to machinery to locate cause of trouble
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rulers, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using appropriate tools
  • Repair and replace defective parts
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Start devices after repair to ensure that the machine is operating correctly
  • Complete preventive maintenance on all machines according to the PM Schedule
  • Use all resources to find the parts needed for repairs and pass this information on to the purchasing person
