About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general maintenance, repair and installation of various pieces of equipment within the facility according to codes and standards to provide a safe, comfortable environment for patient, staff and visitors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Higher Level of Education
  • Graduate of a trade school or equivalent OR two (2) years’ related work experience.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License (if out of state hire current Department of Motor Vehicle record report required and obtain PA Current Driver License within 30 days of hire).
  • Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, A.T.S. door hardware, casework components and various finishes.
  • Knowledge in reading construction drawings and performing material take offs.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable codes and regulations.
  • Journeyman’s certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to calls for maintenance assistance from patient floors and other departments.
  • Redirect requests to appropriate maintenance technician or supervisor as needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust, clean and/or lubricate equipment as specified by procedure.
  • Change filters, belts, bulbs, and other consumable items.
  • Complete PM work orders and paperwork and forward to Maintenance office.
  • Assist other tradesmen or contractors as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Help with installation and maintenance of mechanical and other equipment.
  • Fires boilers and controls the generation of steam supply (pertains to Boiler Operator position).
  • Start, stop, adjust and regulate water and fuel flow to maintain system pressure.
  • Monitor equipment function to ensure operations are within specified limits.
  • Operate equipment according to established procedures or instructions.
  • Start cooling systems and regulates chillers, pumps, drives, and cooling towers.
  • Control the supply of chilled water to HVAC equipment.
  • Maintain equipment logs of pressures, operating, temperatures and times.
  • Track, trend and review gauge readings and operating data.
  • Test city water, boiler water, condensate water to determine physical parameters.
  • Determine hardness PH, chemical contractions.
  • Measure, dispense, and inject chemicals into system process based on test results.
  • Track, trend and review chemical process to control water quality within specified limits.
  • Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
  • Schedule and perform repairs; coordinate with hospital departments as required.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel/trades with installation of equipment within the facility.
  • Maintain emergency generators.
  • Perform weekly/monthly maintenance, monitor temperatures, pressures, voltage, and amperage when generators are in service.
  • Monitor status of electrical switch gear; identify emergency and stand by circuits when activated.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on small equipment and appliances.
  • Clean, repair, and rebuild pumps, motor assemblies, valves and other equipment as assigned.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment in the Boiler complex.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
