About The Position

Mays Chemical, a Ravago Company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to work in the Indianapolis facility. The selected candidate will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on machines and equipment, carrying out janitorial and maintenance tasks including minor daily or weekly housekeeping, problem-solving, inspecting, operating, or testing machinery to diagnose malfunctions, and supporting the supervisor with the day-to-day upkeep of buildings. This role also involves technical abilities such as changing light ballasts, repairing windows and doors, making minor plumbing repairs, and ensuring safe conditions of all buildings. The technician will assist with scheduling and meeting with contractors, support and assist with guidance and training of co-workers, notify managers of major repair needs, requisition supplies and equipment, ensure compliance with hazardous material handling regulations, and perform exterior functions like snow and debris removal.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three + plus years of general maintenance experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required, as well as a high level of patience, understanding, and tact, even under difficult circumstances.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; communicating effectively with all levels of management, personnel and customers.
  • Successfully manage/prioritize multiple projects within conflicting operational demands.
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Work independently, with self-direction; well organized.
  • Produce work accurately within tight deadline constraints.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment such, forklift, scissor lift, drills, floor scrubbers, etc.
  • Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical repair required
  • Good hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Performs (PM) Preventive maintenance on Machines and Equipment.
  • Perform janitorial and maintenance tasks as required by supervisor, including minor daily or weekly housekeeping.
  • Problem-Solving
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Support and assist supervisor with managing day-to-day upkeep of the buildings.
  • Technical ability to change light ballasts, repair windows and doors, make minor plumbing repairs and ensure safe conditions of all buildings.
  • Assist with scheduling and meeting with contractors to perform various duties.
  • Support and assist with guidance and training of existing co-workers.
  • Notify managers concerning the need of major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Ensure handling of hazardous materials such as paints, solvents, and chemicals complies with all regulatory requirements.
  • Perform removal of snow, debris from lawn and any other exterior functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
