About The Position

A Maintenance Technician assists in various maintenance and repair tasks, which include preparing work areas, cleaning up, and handling materials. This role involves supporting the Supervisor and Safety Engineer with projects that may encompass plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting. It requires physical stamina, proficiency with tools, and strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • All workers are under an obligation to follow rules and regulations pertaining to safety and security. Failure to comply with Safety & security rules and regulations will result in disciplinary action and ultimately termination of employment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of Center staff.
  • Must have basic knowledge in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerP

Responsibilities

  • Serve the department and facility with a constant professional attitude and quality. Establish good, meaningful relations with other departments and staff members.
  • Work alternate schedules and sites as assigned to support operations.
  • Assist in all Emergency/Safety management drills implemented by the Center.
  • Assist the Supervisor, Safety Engineer with a variety of repair and maintenance projects.
  • Assist with prep work, such as setting up, breaking down, mixing, pouring, and securing work areas.
  • Handle cleanup and organize materials and tools, and the workshop.
  • Perform basic repairs under supervision, such as fixing leaky faucets, patching or painting drywall.
  • Provide support for more complex tasks, like assisting with electrical or plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Assemble prefabricated furniture, chairs, cabinets, and other needed assemblies.
  • Install bulletin boards, restroom dispensers, wall frames, and other fixtures.
  • Haul materials and assist with tasks that require heavy lifting.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist in snow removal.
  • Ability to work alternate schedules
  • Participates in meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
