About The Position

Spruce Lake Ministries encourages persons from a variety of traditions to a deeper faith in God through Jesus Christ. In this peaceful setting in the heart of the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania, Spruce Lake and Pinebrook provide Christian church, family and corporate groups with lodging, meeting spaces and meals for their next event or retreat. Spruce Lake also hosts summer camps, programmatic retreats, and outdoor education programs throughout the year. Position Description The Maintenance Technician is responsible for routine and emergency maintenance, renovation, construction or replacement of Spruce Lake guest lodging, guest recreational facilities, staff housing, campground, offices and administration, grounds and infrastructures. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for solution-oriented team participation in completion of all routine and project-based tasks. Prerequisite: Must affirm Spruce Lake Ministries mission, vision, beliefs and core values. Must have a teachable spirit, team-player attitude, and servant heart. Must be responsible, industrious, hospitable, and enthusiastic. Conducts him/herself in a manner that is above reproach. Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written Accountability Accountable to the Facility Manager

Requirements

  • Must be responsible, industrious, hospitable, and enthusiastic.
  • Conducts him/herself in a manner that is above reproach.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Minimum two years' progressive experience in construction industry with focus on carpentry skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic math, reading and computation skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
  • Willingness to learn and practice new skills as needed.
  • Flexibility to work days, weekends, rotating holidays and on call schedule.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on uneven terrain, lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, perform repetitive motions with arms, wrists, shoulders and to bend, kneel and stretch.
  • At the employer's expense, all employment hires are contingent upon completion of FBI Criminal Background fingerprint clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance and PA Criminal History Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and skills associated with hospitality industry commercial building and ground maintenance preferred.
