Maintenance Technician
About The Position
The Maintenance Technician Apprentice is an entry-level role designed to develop foundational maintenance skills in a manufacturing environment. Under the direct guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor and senior maintenance personnel, the Apprentice assists with basic repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and facility upkeep. This role provides hands-on training and progressive skill development to prepare the employee for advancement to a full Maintenance Technician position. The Maintenance Technician Apprentice is expected to maintain a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to safety.
Requirements
- Daily On-Site Attendance.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Required to be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS systems preferred.
- Welding, fabrication, or PLC experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machines, tools, and facility systems.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment issues.
- Install new or replacement machinery and equipment according to specifications.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests to minimize production interruptions.
- Document all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Identify potential reliability issues and recommend solutions to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Use diagnostic tools, schematics, and manuals to ensure accurate troubleshooting.
- Support predictive maintenance programs, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication checks.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Maintain shop areas, tools, and parts inventory in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams to schedule maintenance without disrupting operations.
- Participate in safety and 5S initiatives, daily meetings, and continuous improvement projects.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or system upgrades.
- Perform basic fabrication, welding, or electrical wiring as required for equipment upkeep.
- Provide input to improve maintenance procedures and equipment performance.
