JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance and services of NWM buildings related to painting, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, environmental, and safety.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with fire, life, safety programs.
  • Working knowledge of building codes.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints.
  • Knowledge of building infrastructure - mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP).
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office preferred (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • 3+ years’ experience in all phases of grounds and maintenance services.
  • Experience with Cal-OSHA, NFPA, and Hazardous waste handling preferred.
  • Must be able to safely lift and/or handle items weighing up to 60 pounds on occasion. This may be performed with reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work safely and comfortably at heights of up to 50 feet on occasion. This may or may not include climbing (ascending/descending) a ladder and twisting the body safely to handle maintenance requests and repairs.
  • Must be able to use tools by hand safely to complete maintenance requests.
  • Must be able to detect maintenance issues and visually read blueprints, documentation, and other written material.
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions on occasion.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to complete maintenance requests as needed.
  • View and type on computer screens for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the buildings in a clean and orderly condition by examining the buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • Perform general building and fixture repairs.
  • Resolve general facilities and maintenance requests.
  • Follow facilities department policy, procedure, and standards.
  • Assist with space planning and office moves.
  • Responsible for basic equipment and furniture assembly.
