About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on plant and production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role also supports Operations with machine setup and equipment adjustments as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or food production environment preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered (e.g., 4 years of direct industrial maintenance experience).
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with employees at all levels and outside contractors.
  • Ability to operate material handling and access equipment, such as forklifts, scissor lifts, or genie lifts (certification preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, and complete work orders, instructions, daily reports, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly using various communication devices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write basic correspondence and maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret basic charts and graphs.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, twist, climb, balance, reach, see, hear, and handle tools and paperwork.
  • Frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures at all times.
  • Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and food defense regulations.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, in designated areas.
  • Follow all employee safety practices and plant safety rules.
  • Understand SDS/MSDS documentation and the safe use of chemicals.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health regulations.
  • Ensure emergency exits, fire doors, and eyewash stations remain unobstructed.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training with exposure to high-speed production equipment preferred.
  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma, or Associate’s Degree in Maintenance or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs on production and facility equipment.
  • Complete scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance (PMs) in accordance with manufacturer specifications and established timelines.
  • Assist Operations with machine setup, changeovers, and equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills.
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, lighting, dock doors, and dock plates.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities, but not limited to, oil changes, filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, inspections, calibration, and adjustments.
  • Read and interpret schematics, plans, specifications, equipment manuals, and work orders.
  • Accurately log labor, parts, and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
