About The Position

Cape Henry Collegiate’s Operations Department is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the school’s mission and daily operations. This position focuses on the preventative and corrective maintenance of campus buildings, systems, and equipment in a fast-paced school environment. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a full-time, permanent position. We seek an individual who is reliable, accountable, and takes pride in completing assigned work to a high standard. The ideal candidate works efficiently, follows direction, maintains consistent productivity, and contributes positively to a team environment. They are able to respond to requests in a courteous and professional manner while reinforcing the use of established processes, including the work order system. This position reports to the Facilities and Grounds Manager and operates as part of a coordinated Operations team. Requirements

  • Prior experience in commercial building maintenance required (school setting preferred)
  • Working knowledge of basic trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC)
  • Ability to safely use maintenance tools and equipment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of a hands-on role with consistent activity throughout the workday
  • Basic computer skills and ability to communicate clearly (written and verbal)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • High School Diploma

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA and trade certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair and maintenance of building systems and structures, including painting, basic electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring, and door/window hardware
  • Respond to and complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner using the electronic work order system
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including furniture and equipment moves
  • Maintain tools and equipment, including performing preventative maintenance
  • Conduct general upkeep and light custodial tasks as needed
  • Unlock, secure, and safeguard facilities based on assigned schedule
  • Operate hand trucks, light utility vehicles, and school vans/trucks as required
  • Follow established procedures and safety guidelines at all times
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
