What It's Like to Be a Maintenance Technician As a Maintenance Technician at Oakbrook Corporation, no two days are the same. You'll perform a variety of routine and preventive maintenance tasks, including HVAC inspections, plumbing repairs, and general property upkeep-helping ensure our communities remain safe, well-maintained, and comfortable for residents. You'll thrive in this role if you're detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoy troubleshooting and solving problems. Strong time management and communication skills are essential, as you'll work independently while collaborating with teammates and interacting with residents. Requirements

  • Experience in residential property maintenance or a related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, carpentry, painting, vendors, parts, and services
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with owners, managers, and residents
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must provide personal hand tools required for the position
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or trade school certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage repair and replacement of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and pool control systems
  • Manage and complete work orders, unit turnovers, and coordinate contractors for estimates and approved work
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance, including grounds care, common areas, trash and recycling, safety checks, and preventive maintenance
  • Assist with maintaining operating budgets for unit turnovers, repairs and maintenance (R&M), and capital expenditure (CapEx) projects
  • Report accidents, emergencies, or safety concerns to supervisors immediately
  • Support additional properties in the assigned area as needed
  • Participate in the on-call rotation schedule

  • Perform other duties as assigned
