About The Position

Maintenance Technician is responsible for equipment repair, uptime, cycle time improvements and Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) for all equipment and facilities.

Requirements

  • Technical School
  • Area of Study: Specialization in Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or similar.
  • Equivalent work experience may also be considered for this position.
  • 3 Minimum Years of Experience with Maintenance / Engineering.
  • 1-3 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic prints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues – 12v dc, 120v, 240v single phase, and 480v 3 phase systems and distribution.
  • Experience operating basic shop tools.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety and/or complexity, which require an extensive knowledge of fabrication/processing techniques, tools, materials, machines, and equipment.
  • Ability to work in matrix organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrical License.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining a wide variety of equipment including but not limited to – light assembly, plastic welding technology, injection molding machines, slush machines, foam in place equipment, robots.
  • Welding experience.
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming skills.
  • Excellent Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic circuit troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, maintain and improve all equipment and facilities.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production throughput, quality and equipment longevity.
  • Examine and test equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  • Process Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders and close them out in the system.
  • Record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records.
  • Review Production System Efficiency and Quality System Efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement; propose and implement continuous productivity, process and quality improvement actions for all facilities.
  • Adhere to all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety requirements that pertain to the manufacturing environment and the maintenance function.
  • Facilitate equipment moves on the shop floor, including all plant utilities, communication and network wiring systems connections.
  • Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, maintainability and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met. Set up requisitions for supplies, equipment and facilities.
  • Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime.
  • Keep most recent documentation related to maintenance.
  • All other duties as assigned.
