About The Position

The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician who is a team player and enjoys providing top notch hospitality. This is a perfect opportunity for a candidate with limited experience but who would like to learn hotel operations and grow with a career in hospitality. The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump is a flagship property of Shamin Hotels, Central Virginia's largest hotel management company. We have tripled in size to 78 full- and select-service hotels over the past ten years and own and operate hotels under the Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, InterContinental and Choice flags. Requirements

Strong English language skills including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes while resolving them.
Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Must be respectful and maintain a calm demeanor.
Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to anticipate, prevent and solving problems.
Good communications skills including the ability to listen to, understand and clarify concerns raised by guests and fellow associates.
Must be able to work with a myriad of personalities and levels within and outside the hotel.
Ability to stand up to 8 hours
Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Responsibilities

Maintain properties, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
Replace AC filters.
Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
Tend furnace, air-conditioner, and boiler equipment and maintain other equipment with standard preventative maintenance procedures.
Maintain records on all equipment maintenance and repair.
Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets.
Maintain superior quality of appearance of interior and exterior of hotel to Hilton and Shamin Hotels standards.
Repair wallpaper, carpet, sheetrock, and doors of hotel.
Keep an orderly and well-stocked inventory of finishing supplies.
Check operation of all guest room equipment.
Inspect and repair minor problems in common areas.
Learn and communicate emergency procedures.
Be responsible for safe operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures.
Performs other related duties as required.
